Last Saturday we were together various historical organizations in the fight against mining among which the Northern Front of opposition to mining, UNOVA, AESO and FECON, plus new comrades from organizations the area as Chazon, Nectandra and patriotic committees which we are joined in the organization.

the 5th of May the European Parliament issued a resolution on the general prohibition of mining technologies based on cyanide in the European Union.
In his recital A, B, and C that parliament is blunt in stating that:
In 2010, International Year of Biodiversity, the UN has invited everyone to take action specific to safeguard the biodiversity of the planet ... "cyanide is a highly toxic chemical used in gold mining, ranked as one of the main pollutants of water" and potential to "have a catastrophic and irreversible impact on human health and the environment and hence in biological diversity." Has been shown by the Ministries of Environment of several European countries' concern about the technologies used and planned to dangerous mining activities in various areas of the region that pose significant environmental risks with potential transboundary consequences "

The statement noted that in Europe during the last 25 years "have been 30 major accidents related to the cyanide spill" including the dumping of more than 100.000 liters of water contaminated with cyanide in the Tisza-Danube river system, considered one of the worst environmental disasters in Central Europe and there is no real guarantee that such disasters do not happen again.

In this regard, we applaud the decision of the Court of Appeals of Administrative to maintain the precautionary measures that prevent the PM Crucitas continued destruction of forests and to begin operations that put at risk the environment. We ask the President Laura Chinchilla repeal of Decree 34801-MINAET to circumvent the law has allowed Costa Rica to facilitate PM Crucitas.
